What is an adventure?

What is an adventure?

Kids love adventures, that’s a fact. But what constitutes an adventure? What are therules? The great news is, that there are no rules! One man’s adventure is anotherman’s everyday, do it your way and you can’t go wrong!Perhaps you live in a flat or apartment, where outdoor space is limited. Adventure foryou, could look like indoor camping or den building on your balcony. You don’t evenneed a tent, use sheets or blankets instead and pack a picnic lunch to eat in yourcamp. If you have a garden, why notcamp out ortest out different types of shelter?

If you usually stick to the same play areas, adventure for you, could look like trying adifferent park. Websites and Instagram accounts like@mytownrocksand even yourlocal council websites can offer you alternatives you may not even have knownexisted. Once you’ve scoped out the play area, try exploring the wider locality, isthere a woodland on the edge of the park or a stream to splash in?Perhaps there’s a skate park or bike track beyond the tree line, I dare you to have a look!

How about taking a different route today? If you’re a seasoned hiker, how aboutcreating an adventure by taking a left instead of a right? Obviously, please ensurethat you stick to designated footpaths, but there’s a chance you’ll find a new favouritewalk or spot some different wildlife if you mix it up a little!

Off on holiday? Usually stay in a hotel or static caravan? Why not consider campingnexttime? Camping gives a sense of freedom like no other. Constant fresh air, scaled back camp cooking and quirky washing up duties are some of my favouritethings about camping. Add to those, late bedtimes watching the sun set and lazymornings listening to the birds sing (or the rain patter) and there’s your adventure.

If you’re already a camping pro, hiring a van is a fun next step. We loved having akitchen and changing room on wheels on days out and the kids loved sleeping in the roof!

Toparaphrase Isabella(anyone else find themselves constantly speaking in Encantoreferences lately?), what else can I do? Take a stroll along the canal, visit a farm, hire a pedaloor a kayak, travel by boat or plane for the first time, visit anothercountry and encourage your children to try out theirlanguage skills, climb a mountain(or a hill)... I could go on and on... but I won’t because adventures are different foreveryone and that’s how it should be!
Go forth and adventure lovely people, maybe we’ll see you there!
