Little Trekkers Walking boots guide

Posted by Little Trekkers on 14th May 2024

Good footwear is key to a comfortable walk. We have a great choice for all the family at Little Trekkers. For little independent Trekkers who want to put their own shoes on, to 'too cool for school' teens.

Keen Redwood

Keen know a thing or two about good footwear, these Redwoods are waterproof, insulated and have easy-on elastic laces and a Velcro closure. This means they can be popped on in no time (and there's no laces to come undone halfway round!)

Merrell Moab Flight

If boots are not for you, a good walking shoe is better than trainers. Designed to be harder wearing, and have more traction on uneven ground, they will help keep your Trekker trekking longer. The Merrell Moab Flight also has an easy elastic lace closure for independence.

Meindl Argio

Meindl are our Top of the Class brand when it comes to walking boots. The Gore-Tex lining keeps feet dry, the ultra-grip sole will keep them steady and the quick release fastener on the laces mean they are super easy to put on.

An A+ all round.

Jack Wolfskin Vojo Texapore

Comfy & cool! The Jack Wolfskin Vojo Texapore boots have a lovely padded ankle to give super support and all day comfort.

The fabulous colours also match the Jack Wolfskin backpacks, who says walking can't look good too?!

Merrell Moab 3

The Merrell Moab 3 has a slightly wider toe box than some of our other walking boots.

Meaning no toes will be squished while wearing them!

Waterproof construction and a reinforced toe cap allow for impromptu stream crossing and boulder climbs too.

Keen Ridgeflex

Flexibility is key with these Ridgeflex boots from Keen. Making each step a little easier on the feet with the Bellows Flex insert. A toe bumper for rocky ground and easy fastening makes it a great all round boot for little feet.

Top tips for finding the right walking boots

A good pair of walking boots will support the ankle as well as the rest of the foot on long walks and over softer grass or harder uneven ground. So making sure they fit well is priority. A decent pair of walking socks will also be key to a complain less walk (we can't guarantee complain free - unless you also have snacks!)
