Posted by Little Trekkers on 25th Apr 2024
What is National Walking Month?
National Walking Month is an annual campaign held in May to encourage people to get outdoors and enjoy the benefits of walking. Here at Little Trekkers, we are passionate about enabling kids and their families to enjoy the outdoors together, which is why we love to get involved in National Walking Month each year. National Walking Month aims to raise awareness about the importance of regular walking for physical and mental well-being, it's an opportunity to celebrate the joys of walking, explore new routes, and promote a healthier, more active lifestyle for everyone.
What we are up to this May
We eagerly anticipate the arrival of May, hopeful for clearer skies and warmer weather after the rainy days of April. It's gearing up to be a month filled with adventure and exploration as we embark on exciting initiatives to celebrate the joy of walking. From epic giveaways that promise fantastic prizes to engaging blog posts brimming with tips and inspiration, there's something for everyone to enjoy. We're also thrilled to announce our first-ever Instagram takeovers, which will offer a unique glimpse into the beauty of the great outdoors with some of our favorite outdoor accounts. Keep your eyes peeled for takeover news!
It is time to dust off your walking shoes, pack your backpack, and get ready to join us on a journey of discovery this National Walking Month. Let's make every step count as we explore the world around us and revel in the simple pleasures of walking.
Get involved
Getting involved in National Walking Month is easy and can be tailored to suit your preferences and abilities. Here 5 top tips to help you participate:
- Challenge yourself to walk a certain number of steps or miles each day or week throughout May.
- Look for local walking groups or clubs in your area and join them for organised walks. This is a great way to meet new people, discover new walking routes, and stay motivated.
- Gather friends, family, or colleagues and organise your own walking events. Choose scenic routes, parks, or nature trails to explore together.
- Incorporate walking into your daily routine by walking to work, school, or when running errands. You can also park further away from your destination to get in extra steps.
- Use social media platforms to share photos, stories, and tips from your walks. Use hashtags like #NationalWalkingMonth & #LittleTrekekrsAdventures to connect with others participating in the campaign.
Remember, the most important thing is to find activities that you enjoy and that fit into your lifestyle. Whether you prefer solo walks in nature or group walks with friends, National Walking Month is a great opportunity to prioritise your health and well-being through walking.
