WINTERY GIFT GUIDE
Hey! I’m Lynn and I live in Glasgow with my two kids age 5 and 8. As a family we like to get outdoors and explore the beautiful places and spaces we are so lucky to have near us, which I try to share on my blog, Glasgow With Kids. It’s easy to get out exploring when we know it’s going to be a warm day, but there has been a definite shift in the weather recently, with frosty mornings and higher rainfall and cooler winds. It feels like we’re well on the way towards winter, and for us that means making sure we always have layers and waterproofs and wind protection out with us, even if it doesn’t look like it’s going to rain or snow or be windy, because the weather can change in minutes from beautifully sunny to pouring down and freezing. (And we all know the drama that entails when little hands get cold or feet get wet!)
I like to buy items that I know we’ll use again and again; sometimes they’re gifts and sometimes they’re necessities! Either way, Little Trekkers have loads of brilliant apparel to suit different budgets. Here are some of my favourites from their latest additions.
Here are my 5 favourite products from Little Trekkers current collections:
DARE 2B THERMAL SOCKS
It’s welly season and there’s nothing that shortens a lovely autumn walk quicker than cold feet after some puddle splashing. Good warm socks are a definite necessity, and a great wee stocking filler or gifting extra that you know will definitely be used. These Dare 2B thermal socks are perfect and are an absolute bargain as a 2 pack!
REIMA KINSEI THERMAL BASE LAYER SET
Yep, more thermals. (There’s a theme here!) Layers, particularly a good thermal base layer, are a great idea for the winter months. This thermal leggings & top set from Reima Kinsei is soft, wooly, eco-friendly and super warm - even when the material gets wet! It’s available from age 1-12, so would be perfect for little kids who maybe aren’t able to run around to keep themselves warm. Or for the bigger ones who hate wearing a big jacket, these thermals underneath their clothes and they’ll still feel lovely and toasty warm.
DIDRIKSONS BIGGLES CAP
My kids each have one of these winter hats and not only are they incredibly cute, but they’re super warm and cosy too. The velcro closing underneath means it won’t keep falling off, and they are water repellent too for when we get caught in those inevitable rain showers. The hat comes in four colours: I adore the orange, and it’s also available in blue, green and pink. These would make a great gift or stocking filler too. Kinda wish they had them in adult sizes so we all be matchy…
DARE 2B MISCHIEVOUS GLOVES
We had quite a snowy winter a few years back, and I learned the importance of investing in a good pair of waterproof gloves that first day playing in the snow. Because as soon as gloves get wet, little hands get cold. And whether you’re out sledging, climbing trees, building a snowman, walking or even in playparks, cold hands mean the end of whatever it is you’re doing! These ski gloves are waterproof with insulated lining, and they have an elasticated wrist to make it easy to get them on without them falling off easily. Perfect for playing on a cold, wet day.
DIDRIKSONS WATERPROOF SET
These waterproofs are the best I’ve used for my kids. They aren’t lined so they can be used year round, but they are super roomy, so they can be worn with loads of layers underneath. They’re easy for little ones to put on themselves and they have adjustable elastic foot straps at the bottom of each leg to put around the sole of their shoes/wellies to hold them in place too. With covid still around our kids are outside more in school, and these waterproofs are so good we ended up getting a second set for them to use in school. Available in several colour combos. Available in various sizes from 18 months to 10 years, and wonderful for puddle jumping, falling on their bum in the mud, playing on a wet beach or splashing in a wee river at every age. They are super value for money and a great addition to any kids outdoor kit, especially in autumn and winter. They’d make a brilliant Christmas gift too!
