Egg Box Treasure Hunt
19th Oct 2020
How much fun can you have with an egg box?! Over the last few months, and particularly in lockdown, we have done various trails on our local walks so this was a different idea to try.
With a large egg box(ours was a ten hole box) create a same sized insert for the inside of the lid. Divide it into sections to create boxes to line up with the egg sections. Then list all the little treasures to find. I wrote the name and drew a little picture as my son can’t yet read. We had items such as feather, seed, rock but you could have colours or textures or make it a bit trickier with certain tree leaves or initial letters, endless options!
The egg box was quickly renamed as a treasure box and my son proudly carried it as we looked for all the treasures. Not only did he have to find the items but they also had to fit into the box- ie not a giant stick! We also talked about each item such as where and when we might find the items along our walk.
This was such a great little activity we will definitely be doing it again, same box even just a different list of treasures!
