5 Springtime Adventures: Easter Holiday Inspiration for Little Trekkers!

Posted by Little Trekkers on 12th Mar 2025

The Easter holidays are just around the corner, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and plenty of outdoor adventures! Whether you’re planning a staycation, a day trip, or just some fun in the garden, spring is the perfect time to get outside and explore with your family.

To help you make the most of the season of new beginnings, we’ve put together five fun-filled ideas for Easter holiday adventures the whole family will love!

1- Woodland Wanders & Spring Spotting

Spring is a magical time in the woods, flowers are blooming, birds are singing, and wildlife is waking up after the winter months! Why not head out on a spring nature walk and see what you can find?

Signs of Spring to Spot:

  • Butterflies fluttering
  • Blossom on the trees
  • Bees buzzing around flowers
  • Baby birds chirping

2- DIY Outdoor Easter Egg Hunt

Easter wouldn’t be complete without an egg hunt, and the great outdoors makes the perfect setting! Hide eggs in a garden, park, or woodland, and add fun clues to make it an adventure.

Fun Egg Hunt Ideas:

  • Hide some small prizes among the eggs, stickers, toys, or even mini chocolate bunnies!
  • Add challenges at each egg (e.g., "Hop like a bunny to find the next clue!")
  • Swap chocolate eggs for painted wooden eggs that kids can decorate later!

Bonus Tip: Dress your little explorers in waterproofs to stay dry just in case the classic April showers make an appearance!

3- Beach Days & Rock Pool Exploring

Spring sunshine calls for a trip to the beach!  Even if it’s not quite warm enough for a swim, there’s still so much fun to be had.

Things to Do at the Beach in Spring:

  • Go rock pooling and see what creatures you can find
  • Build sandcastles
  • Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch with a view
  • Collect shells and pebbles for some DIY nature crafts at home!

Top Tip: The seaside can still be chilly and breezy in spring, so layer up with a Fleece and waterproof jacket to stay warm and dry!

4- Visit a Farm or Wildlife Park

Spring is baby animal season, making it the perfect time to visit a farm or wildlife park! Many farms offer lamb feeding, pony rides, and petting areas, making it a great hands-on experience for kids.

Animals to Look Out For:

  • Fluffy chicks and ducklings
  • Bouncing baby bunnies
  • Playful lambs in the fields
  • Ponies and donkeys enjoying the sunshine

Bonus Idea: If you can’t visit a farm, why not create a mini wildlife haven in your own garden? Set up a bird feeder, plant bee-friendly flowers, and see what creatures come to visit!

5- Don’t Let April Showers Stop the Fun!

Spring may bring sunshine and flowers, but we all know rain is never far away! Instead of staying indoors, embrace the puddles and make the most of the wet weather.

Rainy Day Outdoor Fun:

  • Go puddle jumping in waterproof dungarees and wellies
  • Try mud painting with sticks and natural materials
  • Visit a local duck pond and watch the raindrops on the water
  • Go for a walk and see if you can spot a rainbow after the rain!
