Santa's Steam Train and a Snowman’s Revenge

We all went down to Elsecar Heritage Centre this weekend for a ride on the special Santa Steam Train. We were really lucky to get a side carriage all to ourselves, and it looked just like the inside of the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films.

We chugged along and mum and Dad seemed really happy because it was lovely and warm after being so nippy outside. Then Father Christmas arrived and Squid was really happy to see him.

Squid had a really long chat to Father Christmas and then we both got a present. She got a great jigsaw and I got a aluminium flask and hip belt so that was awesome. Mum and Dad then seemed especially happy: Mum slipped a small bottle of something in her pocket “for later”, and one of the elves very kindly popped open a bottle of something called ‘Snowman’s Revenge’ for my Dad.

I was worried that I might be a bit too old for it, but I really enjoyed it and Squid was very happy to see Father Christmas for the first time this year. It was a great family day out for us all and we all enjoyed how excited Squid was when she first spotted father Christmas!
