Beware of Baby Whelks!

Squid and Me found an egg case washed up on Penmon Point beach on Anglesey.

A whelk egg case we found in Anglesey...

Like usual, Squid tried to eat it as she thinks you can eat everything. I stopped her though as it looked a bit yellow. That could mean that there’s still some baby whelks inside and we put it in a pool near other whelks. If it’s white, that means they’ve all gone. Little baby whelks are vicious because when they hatch they will eat the eggs of their brothers and sisters that have not hatched out yet. Maybe squid should have been born a whelk?
