It's been a funny mix of weather recently, hard to predict what you're going to get! We headed to Longshaw Estate to get some fresh air and found ourselves driving into the car park with snow on the ground.

We were down in Coventry for a wedding and had a couple of hours to spare. So we did what we always do when we are somewhere new and turned too our trusty National Trust and English Heritage guides for some inspiration. We were in luck just down the road was a castle and not just any old castle, a whopping big Kenilworth castle.
When, a few years ago, we discovered Brean Down, we noticed another ‘interesting-looking’ promontory called Sand Point. Brean lies to the south of Weston-Super-Mare, while Sand Point lies to the north of it, near Kewstoke. The forecast for the New Year’s Day Bank Holiday was good, and Sand Point had the attraction of being a slightly shorter drive than Brean Down, so it was the perfect moment for a visit.
I was really looking forward to a leisurely paddle with friends down the River Blackwater with a lovely stop-off at National Trust property The Argory for a wander about and a sample of the tearoom.
