An Icy Afterschool Moment

Moments come and go. One of my aims in life is to create lots of moments for the boys to remember as they grow up. Today was one of those days where things just came together.

An Icy Afterschool Moment

We had a few errands to do after school today. The boys had sat in the car and driven up to the ski area so that I could drop off some books at the shop. To pass the time, we were playing the car game as we were driving. You know the one where everyone chooses a different colour and the first to reach 10 wins. As we passed Loch Morlich on the way back down the hill we could see the ice on the shore so just had to stop and go for a quick walk.

As we walked along the beach we loved playing in the ice and listening to the noise that the ice was making as it was blowing, crashing and grinding together. It was a stunning afternoon, although very windy. The views up to the hill were sensational. It was really chilly with the cold wind blowing hard and we were delighted to be wrapped up in our winter jackets, hats and gloves. Our wellies allowed a bit of paddling to happen. Before everyone got too cold we had a quick turn around and headed back to the car to finish off our game and head home.

Very funky! And I was so happy when I just had a few frozen puddles for smashing some ice the other day!

Playing with ice is so much fun. We rarely get a chance to do it in Belfast so I totally get the stopping to make the most if it!
