How to Make a Birds' Nest
As Easter approaches why not make these very easy birds nests and little chicks? Don't they remind you of the characters from certain mobile phone game app?
There is nothing angry about these little blue birds though. They will sit happily in their nest as part of any Easter decoration. It also gives Kathryne and Nicole at our Elsecar shop the chance to get PVA glue all over their hands so they can peel it all off in that strangely comforting way.
What you will need:
- Yellow Card
- Coloured shredded paper
- 3 x coloured pompoms
- Paper plate
- Foam shapes
- PVA glue
- Stick on eyes
How you do it
Take the paper plate (this will be the base of the nest), cover with glue and stick down the shredded paper to create a nest shape. Ensure you leave enough space in the centre for your little chicks to sit in.
Take the yellow card and cut out three beaks for the three chicks. (If you cut long diamond shapes this will give you the perfect beak).
To create the wings we used small foam shapes that we cut in to a wing shape, but you could use paper or even feathers if preferred. You will need 6 wings in total, 2 for each chick.
Take one of the coloured pompoms and stick on the beak, two wings and a pair of eyes to create a cute little face. Repeat until you have three chicks.
Place the three chicks comfortably in the nest.
