Have Fun With Some Den Building

Here are some den building activities for you to do at home.

Dens in the Woods

A day out in the woods brings out the den builder in us all and with all the logs, sticks and fallen leaves it's too much fun to resist.

Blanket and Sheet Dens

The options are limitless here. Given a selection of blankets, towels or sheets and left to their own devices they will happily play for hours, inside or outside. No instructions needed – just give them the stuff and they will do the rest!

For instant den making whilst you’re out and about a play mat is compact and easy to transport and will provide hours of fun with a little imagination.

Putting it up is half the fun!

Box Dens

Little Trekkers’ photoshoots usually become one big den building activity between shoots as boxes gradually go missing from the warehouse along with warehouse pens, bubble wrap and box tape. Any old boxes will do and you don’t need to do anything except maybe cut the occasional hole as instructed by your child. And it doesn’t need to be inside either. Put the boxes out in the garden along with your blankets and sheets for some monster den building activities.

Permanent dens

Plastic and wood houses in the garden encourage children to play a whole range of creative games and activities outdoors. Let them make their own Signs for Dens with their name on it. When a young child’s playhouse is outgrown, why not paint it in a camouflage green pattern or other wild design if you’re really brave.

Instant Dens

Pop-Up Wendy Houses, an old tent, beach shelters and tunnels make instant dens.

Having a great time!

If you can’t camp out in the back garden, why not have a sleep over in your front room, complete with tents, airbeds and sleeping bags.
