Quick and Easy Pizza Dough

  • 1tsp easy bake dried yeast
  • 500g white bread or 00 grade flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 200ml warm water

  1. Get the coals going on your barbie or if the British summer lets you down, preheat your oven to 225C.
  2. Put the dried yeast and flour into a large bowl.
  3. Add the salt, olive oil and water.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together using a knife.
  5. Once the mixture starts coming together stop using the knife and use your hands instead to make the mixture into a dough.
  6. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until soft and slightly stretchy.
  7. Cut into 4 pieces (or 2 if you prefer) and leave to rest for 5 minutes. (This is a quick dough recipe and so it doesn’t need to prove and rise).
  8. Lightly dust your worktop with flour and roll out each piece of dough. It needs to be about ½ cm thick for a crispy base.
  9. Lightly oil 2 baking trays and put 2 pizza bases on each one (or 1 large one on each one).
  10. Top with your favourite pizza toppings then bake in the oven for around 10 minutes or on the barbecue.
