Make Your Own Survival Food Bars


  • 100g butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • 2 cups of rolled oats
  • 1 cup of coconut flakes
  • 3 cups rice krispies
  • 1 tsp mixed spice (cinnamon, coriander, all spice, ginger, nutmeg, cloves)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Combine the butter, sugar, honey and peanut butter in a sauce pan and bring to the boil for about 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile combine the oats and coconut flakes and brown these lightly in the oven.
  3. Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl, before adding the hot fudge.
  4. Stir quickly until you have a uniform mix.
  5. Transfer into a small baking tray covered by a baking sheet, and ensure to divide into bars within 15 minutes.
